West Bengal School Service Commission was established on 1st Nov 1997. It was established for the purpose of recruitment for the posts of Assistant Teacher and Headmaster in recognized Non-Government aided Schools in the state.

The process of selection of persons for recruitment of Teacher is guided by the WBSSC Rules, 2007. Later recruitment for Non-Teaching Staff in recognized Non-Government aided are also be done through School Service Commission.
